T. Lorene

T. Lorene “Becky” Means, daughter of the late William Bryan Beckett and Ruth Noggle Beckett, died on July 28, 2012. Born January 29, 1922 at Beckett Mountain, Arkansas, she graduated from Vilonia High School at the age of 16 and moved to Little Rock. She was Ike Murry’s private secretary and executive secretary for Gus Blass, Jr. She organized the Noggle family reunion for many years.

Preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Beckett and step-son, M. Richard Means, Jr., she is survived by her husband of 31 years, Melvyn “Buck” Means ; daughter, Becky Baxter Deal and son-in-law, Dr. Ron Deal of Macon, Georgia; grandchildren, Dr. Davey Deal, Jr. (Amy) of Macon, Christine Deal (Doug Megargle) of Jerome, Idaho and Catherine Carver (Tim) of Windsor, Colorado; and six great-grandchildren, William and Luke Deal, Julia and Sophia Megargle, and Ansley and Lindsay Carver. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Ricky Jo Jarvis and husband, Ed of North Little Rock; step-grandchildren, Stephanie Hartle (Elliot) and Drew Tedford (Jil); step-great-grandsons, Ely and Evan Tedford; special nieces, Nancy Baxter and Phyllis Kopiaz; and long-time friend, Uvie Evatt.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock with Rev. Hazel Clark officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, AR 72116 or a charity of one’s choice.
